Transport of unit using emergency elevator enabled

The construction of an emergency elevator is obligated in buildings that are over 31 meters high in Japan.
By designing the chillers so they can be split up into two parts, the resulting transport dimensions and weights can be accommodated by an emergency elevator.

● Maximum rigging dimensions and weight of the low-temperature unit:
Dimensions: 1,485 (L) x 760 (W) x 1,800 (H) mm; weight: 1,040 kg
● Regulations applicable to emergency elevators:
Effective door width: 1,000 mm or more; height: 2,100 mm or more; depth: 1,500 mm or more; load: 1,150 or more; passengers: 17 or more

Energy efficiency assured by replacement of existing unit

During cooling mode, the operation of the absorption chiller unit and of the chilled water and cooling water variable frequency driven pump flow rate ensures an improved energy efficiency of approx. 23% compared with our previous S series.

Calculation conditions
● S series: Capacity: 200 USRT; COP (HHV) = 1.01; control panel: 8 kW; chilled water pump: 121m³/h; head: 40m; input: 18 kW; cooling water pump: 200m³/h; head: 25m; input: 19 kW
● Smart Koala capacity: 200 USRT; COP (HHV): 1.11; control panel: 2.3 kW  4; chilled water pump: 121m³/h; head: 40m; input: 18 kW; cooling water pump: 183m³/h; head: 25m; input: 17 kW

Power consumption under 50% load for chilled water and cooling water inverter pump: Approx. 5 kW for chilled water pump; approx. 6 kW for cooling water pump
● Calculated using an annual cooling operation hours of 1,200 hours and 50% average load factor
● Electric power primary energy: 9.76 MJ/kW
● City gas 13A HHV basis: 45 MJ/m³N

Installation and maintenance space equivalent to that of existing units

The installation and maintenance footprint of Smart Koala is equivalent to existing absorption chillers. (Compared at 200 USRT)

Operation control

The four modules that configure the Smart Koala (with a 200 USRT model given here as an example) exercise control over the number of units in accordance with the prevailing load. In line with the number of units, the flow rates of the cold water and cooling water pumps are controlled in a step-by-step format using an inverter, and a significant improvement in energy efficiency can be achieved.
