More details about Partial load high-efficiency absorption chiller-heaters

The chillers used for air conditioning in buildings are usually not operated for long periods of time under conditions close to 100% load, and they are operated under partial load conditions for most of the time during a year. This means that it is critically important to improve the energy consumption efficiency in line with the fluctuations in the heat load throughout the year. Hitachi’s Partial load high-efficiency absorption chiller-heaters significantly improved efficiency during operation under partial load conditions compared with previous models. It contributes to reduce the amounts of energy consumed annually.

Features of the Partial load high-efficiency units

The high-efficiency units (EX series) incorporating the 2-step evaporation and absorption cycle are used as base model and by exercising inverter control over the solution pump, the volume of the circulating solution is optimized in accordance with the fluctuating load. The partial load efficiency has been drastically increased by minimizing the heat lost and heat generated (the volume of fuel consumed) during partial load operations.

Advantages of the 2-step evaporation and absorption cycle

This cycle makes it possible to dilute the concentration of the solution that goes out from the absorber to the greater than the conventional model and the volume of solution circulating in the overall cycle to be reduced as a result. Reducing this circulating solution volume enables the heat consumption at the high-temperature generator and the overall heat loss to be reduced, thus increasing the efficiency of the cycle.
