Silent mode reduces the air volume treated by the air conditioner's indoor unit. It is ideal to use to maintain the temperature (after the room has reached the set temperature).
The majority of controllers offer direct shortcut button to silent mode. If not, you can reach the silent mode by adjusting the fan speed to its lowest level available.
